This week’s shout out goes to the Movember charity. This charity is on route to tackling prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health problems and the prevention of suicide.
The charity has men’s health at heart and Movember is a fun, easy way to help promote and talk about issues men deal with and guide them through. Statistically every minute of every day another man sadly takes his own life, AND 6/10 suicides are men. This charity walks a mile in a man’s shoes and focuses on the prevention of suicide, promoting positive health and early intervention. The give men a voice to say, ‘I’m not ok, and I need help’.
The charity not only works to prevent suicide in men but offers support and guidance for those suffering with critical illness like prostate and testicular cancer. Testicular cancer is the world’s most common cancer in men ages 15-39 and over 9.9 million men in the word are living with prostate cancer. These are statistics the Movember charity are working to reduce. The charity brings together experts from around the world and tackles ways in which the treatment of men and how they are supported is positively changed. The funding is prioritised into the 4 categories, prostate cancer, testicular cancer, mental health problems and the prevention of suicide, as mentioned above, and they seek ways in which to make the impact significantly long lasting and far-reaching.
